Initially Association was started in the name of Tamilnadu Judicial officers Association in 1978. During the said period there was another association by the name Tamilnadu Magistrates Association. In 1994, when Mr Rosaiah, judicial magistrate was the President of Tamil Nadu magistrates Association, and Mr Mohan Das, District judge was the president of Tamil Nadu judicial officers Association, at the request of Mr Mohandas, Tamil Nadu magistrates Association merged with Tamil Nadu, judicial officers Association and since then it was acting as such. According to the by-law a Judge becomes a member by virtue of his appointment. Association was started for the welfare of the members. Funds are being raised only through the subscriptions collected from the members. As all judges become members by virtue, now there are 1050 judge members in our association. During 2017 the name of our association was changed from Tamil Nadu Judicial Officers Association to Tamilnadu Judges Association
